The Christoval tennis team was in action yesterday at Irion County’s Yellow Ball Tournament. The Cougars brought home gold medals in boys doubles and girls doubles, and finished 3rd in the mixed doubles division. In boys doubles, seniors Roby George and Pierce Parmer returned to the court as a team for the first time in two years. It took about half a match to knock some rust off, but they defeated two very good teams from Menard and Irion County to capture the championship. The sky is the limit for what they can accomplish this year!
The girls doubles team of Kayce Jackson and Adyson Ocker won the girls doubles championship by defeating a very good Cornerstone team in the finals in straight sets. Both girls are super athletic, and they enjoyed a lot of success last year in JV tournaments. They look to establish themselves as a top varsity doubles team this year.
Shelby Hanna and Jamie Treadwell finished 3rd at the tournament, defeating the freshman duo of Emily Fischer and Payton Polk in the 3rd place match. This is the second strong performance for Hanna/Treadwell this season.
The Cougars next tournament will be next week in Big Lake.
