Multiple Teams · Christoval Cross Country Invitational Draws a Large Crowd

The rocky trail that circles the High School campus on the hill provides a strong challenge of long hills, tough footing, and tight paths.  This did not scare away any Concho Valley runners as fifteen schools showed up with over 235 runners for the Christoval Invitiational.  The field saw several runners and schools that not only have State experience but high expectations for State again this year.

On the girls side, Ozona won the team title edging out Wall.  Christoval came in 4th with Senior Maricela Riojas leading the way finishing 15th followed by Kayce Jackson at 17th.  Freshman Emily Fischer came in at 27th with Dez Halbrooks (38) and McKayla Fiveash (50) finished out the field for the Cougars.

The Wall boys had a strong showing to win the boys team title.  Pierce Parmer lead the Cougars finishing 22nd in a strong field of boys.  Kevon Yates (36), Peyton Polk (39), Biran Nhek (55), and Brandon Clanton (67) rounded out the boys team to give them a 7th place team finish.  This was a return of a Cougars Cross Country team after not having enough to field a team last year.

The JV Girls Lady Cougars finished a close 2nd to Ozona.  K’lee Loehman lead the way with a 6th place finish followed by Kaitlynn Loehman at 10th.

It was a great start for the Cross Country team this season.  Several kids ran a personal best.  Next up for the Cougars is the Christoval Baptist Church 5K on Sept 10th.
