Game Recap

The Christoval JV basketball team took a big step toward locking up the district championship Tuesday night with a 42-30 victory over a good Eldorado squad. The Cougars technically had one loss in district thanks to an early season matchup that saw Eldorado crush the JV2 team. Eldorado’s only previous loss in district was to Forsan, which meant going into last night the two teams were tied with a 8-1 record. The Eagles were up to the challenge and kept the Cougars from pulling away most of the night. Elijah Dubois caught fire in the second quarter, scoring 13 of his 16 first-half points, staking the Cougars to an 11-point halftime lead. Azul Salinas and Cameron Arnold, who each finished with 7 points, shared the scoring load in the 3rd quarter to keep the Eagles at bay. Dubois finished with a season-high 20 points. The Cougars are now 22-2 on the season and head to Forsan Friday night to play the Buffaloes for the third time this year. Christoval won the previous two matchups, but Forsan is a very good team and will be ready for the big game.
