Game Recap

The Christoval JV boys basketball came away with a big 43-31 victory against Forsan in a very difficult place to play Friday. The two teams were meeting for the third time, and the Cougars had won the previous two, but Forsan is a very good team, as evidenced by their 30-27 loss in Christoval. It appeared that Forsan would defend their home court, jumping out to a 21-12 lead with less than a minute left in the half. That’s when Azul Salinas took matters into his own hands. He came to the bench and said, “we’re not losing this game.” Salinas hit two three-pointers in the last minute of the half, pulling the Cougars within three at halftime. He came out of the break just as hot as he went in, nailing three more from long distance. Salinas finished the game with 18 points, connecting on all five of his three-point attempts. The Buffaloes decided to face guard Salinas to prevent him from scoring, and that is when Elijah Dubois kicked in. Dubois scored 8 of his 11 in the 4th quarter, as the Cougars pulled away late. Everyone scored for the Cougars, helping them improve to 23-2 on the season. The Cougars can win the district championship Tuesday night when they host Miles.
