Christoval High School
Forsan High School
The Christoval Cougars lost a hard-fought 55-50 contest to the Forsan Buffaloes Friday night in Sterling City. Just like their matchup the previous Friday night, the Cougars staggered out of the gate and the Buffaloes were on fire. Forsan led 13-10 after the first quarter and held a 25-13 lead midway through the second quarter. However, as the Cougars always do, they fought back. The Cougars went on a 30-12 run to take a 43-37 lead, their largest of the game, about midway through the third quarter. At that point it looked like the Cougars may coast to the win, but Forsan responded. From that point forward the Cougars made only 3 of 11 shots, while Forsan made 5 of 7 from the field and 7 of 9 from the free throw line. Christian Mayfield led the Cougars with 12 points, making four of his five three-point attempts. Kevon Yates and Pierce Parmer each scored 10.
The two teams split their four games this season, but Forsan won the two big ones at the end. Forsan enters the playoffs as the #1 seed, while the Cougars enter as the #2 seed. The Cougars, who finished the season at 25-5, will play the Hawley Bearcats Tuesday night at Blackwell High School at 7:00 PM.
